The Christmas is a magical period in Germany, celebrated with much tradition. The Christmas Markets (Weihnachtsmärkte) take thousands of people to the streets to admire the decorations, taste the typical delights of that time and find friends and family.
Every year, in the second week of the Advent celebration, there is the traditional Christmas Market of Alt-Rixdorfer, located in the historic and bohemian district of Neukölln in Berlin. The celebration, which takes place in the surroundings of Richardplatz, brings the brightness of Christmas lights to the region.
This event is organized by more than 100 charity associations that prepare handmade toys, Christmas decorations, candles, various types of honey and jams, brushes, as well as the much anticipated recipes of this time of the year, such as candied apples, cakes, Glühwein, chocolates and more!
Among other attractions of this fair we have the pony rides, the presentation of the “three wise men of the East” with their camels and the “exhibition of the carriages of Nice”. Of course Santa Claus and the Witch of Ginger House will also be there to delight the young and old.
The opening hours of the Christmas Market in 2016 are: Friday (02/12): 5 pm – 9 pm; Saturday (03/12): 2 pm – 9 pm; and Sunday (04/12): 2 pm – 8 pm. The entrance is free. The nearest subway access is via the U-Bahn (line U7) at Karl-Marx-Str.
